What is a video consultation

Joaquim Chaves Saúde’s video consultation service allows you to have a remote consultation, in total safety and at your convenience, on your computer, tablet or smartphone.

In a video consultation, you can speak to your physician from any location, without having to travel, while maintaining the clinical and specialist support received in a face-to-face appointment.

Video consultations are recommended to monitor cases such as chronic illness, for post-operative consultations or routine check-ups.

Find out what to do before the consultation begins

10 minutes before the scheduled appointment, follow these steps and confirm everything is ready.

Test your equipment

Confirm that your camera, microphone and sound are working properly.

Check your connection

Use a stable internet connection, via Wi-Fi or mobile data.

Choose your location

Select a location that is private, well-lit and quiet.

Make sure you have everything with you

Make sure you have your regular medication and any recent tests or reports, if applicable.

During the consultation

Discover some steps that help ensure better communication with the physician during the video consultation.

How to participate in the video consultation

- Enter 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
- Confirm that you can see and hear your physician properly.
- Speak clearly and slowly.
- Look at the camera when you are speaking.
- Avoid moving your device during the consultation.
Privacy of the consultation

The videoconference system does not record audio or video of the consultation.

Choose a private location where you can speak comfortably and without interruptions.
If there are glitches

Inform the physician if you are experiencing sound, image or connectivity issues.

Whenever possible, keep the device plugged in and use a stable internet connection.
At the end of the video consultation

- The physician may send prescriptions by text message and/or email, when applicable.
- Confirm the date of the next appointment.
- Confirm if the next appointment will be face-to-face or via video consultation.
- If exams or tests are prescribed, the clinic can help you with scheduling.

Access issues

- Confirm you are using the correct link.
- Check the date and time of your appointment.
- Close the app or browser and re-open.
- If the issues persist, restart your device.
Sound or image issues

- Confirm the camera and microphone are activated.
- Increase the volume on your device.
- Check that you have authorised access to the camera and microphone.
- Test your headphones, if applicable.
Connectivity issues

- Confirm that the internet is activated.
- Move close to the router, if you are using Wi-Fi.
- Try using mobile data, if possible.
- Keep the device plugged in.
