Clínica de Radioncologia da Madeira opened in 2009, following a partnership with Serviço de Saúde da Região Autónoma da Madeira. This clinic represents an important improvement regarding oncology treatment in the archipelago.
This modern unit is the only in the region to provide radiotherapy treatments, granting patients quicker access to the most advanced cancer treatment techniques and greatly improving prognostics and life quality.
A multidisciplinary team monitors and plans treatments, backed-up by advanced equipment – two Linear Accelerators, one Dual Energy Clinac 2100 CD, one low-energy Clinac 600 and one Micro Multileaf Collimator (M3).
The Nuclear Medicine Unit, also part of this clinic, is equipped with a SPECT-CT device (the first of this kind to be installed in Portugal) used for both oncologic and non-oncologic diagnosis.
