Cobas 8800: Innovation and quality in Microbiology Testing

Joaquim Chaves Saúde recently acquired the Cobas 8800, a Roche Diagnostics equipment which allows performing PCR (polymerase chain reaction) techniques in real time, in a fully automated way. Tests are optimized for Papillomavirus, Chlamydia, Trachomatis, Neisseria, Gonorrhoeae, HIV1 , Hepatitis B and C viruses, Cytomegalovirus, Epstein-Barr virus, among others.

In this way, we ensure:
· High quality and reproducibility of results;
· Absence of contamination – therefore no false positive results;
· Quantitative results with high sensitivity - therefore no false negatives;
· About 200 results per hour, with the possibility of performing up to 3 different tests simultaneously.

This is the only Molecular Biology equipment that allows obtaining results from the primary tube, without direct operator intervention, in an integrated process of reagent management, extraction, pipetting, amplification and detection.
