Free diabetes screenings at Alegro Sintra and CascaiShopping
Joaquim Chaves Saúde will be at Alegro Sintra on the 11th and 12th of November, and at CascaiShopping on the 14th and 15th of November, offering free diabetes screenings.
In Alegro Sintra, the screening facilities can be found in front of the supermarket, between 12:00 and 20:00. At CascaiShopping, the action will also take place between 12:00 and 20:00, in the corridor that leads to the supermarket, right by the elevators.
The initiative comes within the scope of World Diabetes Day and aims to raise awareness to the importance of early diagnosis of diabetes, a disease that was responsible for 6.7 million deaths in 2021.
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is part of a group of chronic metabolic diseases that have very variable clinical presentation and evolution. They are characterized by being associated with persistent hyperglycemia, and at their origin and early development, intricate interactions of genetic, immune and environmental factors are involved.
