JCS at the forefront of diagnosis: Chorionic Villus Sampling

Joaquim Chaves Saúde became a reference in the study of Chorionic Villus Sampling, an invasive prenatal diagnosis technique.

Our Medical Genetics service developed its own methodologies, specific for processing foetal samples obtained via Chorionic Villus Sampling.

Since 2008, our lab has already processed around 2500 foetal samples, using exclusive procedures, created by our professionals.

This differentiation allows a 100% success rate, with correct results and quicker answers.

The success of this technique is obviously related to the quality of the sample, a procedure performed by the obstetrician. Results for Rapid Aneuploidy Detection (DAR), used for the study of chromosome trisomy 21, 13 and 18 and sex chromosome are obtained on the same day of the CVS puncture or, at most, the following day. Definitive Foetal Karyotype results are obtained 5 to 7 days after CVS.

Due do this specialization in methodological procedures, we are proud to be the first private lab to offer the study of the Chorionic Villus Sampling to different renowned hospitals, public and private, across the country.

The first Chorionic Villus Sampling was performed at the Miraflores Clinic in the beginning of 2014.
